Well, 2014 is almost in the books as they say. It has been another good growth year for Your Friend 4 Life. The biggest closing is our new record our largest client to date of 42,000 employees for enrollment next year. One of the things I also reviewed was how my blogs did over the course of the year. What subjects were most popular, where blogs were promoted, how they were promoted in order to learn and adapt to be better in 2015. Here is what I learned about my top 5 blogs of 2014 using “Google Analytics”.

The most popular blog of 2014 was Is Obamacare the End of the Health Insurance Agent?  by quite a margin. The lesson I learned from this blog is to be topical and current. With record numbers of health insurance agents surrendering their license or moving to other products, I must assume agents found these embedded sources interesting and relevant.

The second most read blog was Do You Smoke an Occassional Cigar?. This blog was written for those special occasion tobacco users that are being punished by most life insurance carriers with smoker rates. I just wanted to be informative and let those folks know there are life insurance carriers that do understand that lifestyle and will give them non tobacco rates. I can only assume by the traffic, there are a lot of occasional tobacco users.

The third most read blog was How To Do Life Insurance Mathematics? This blog was written with the average consumer in mind to answer a common question of how much life insurance do I need? I hear that a lot and I wanted this blog to provide to my clients, in order to have them thinking about the type and amount of coverage they really need.

The fourth most read blog was Why are You a Struggling Insurance Agent? This blog was written to the newer insurance agent and giving them tips on how to build their insurance business. I have been blessed by the insurance industry for over 20 years, I felt it was important to give back to the next generation of insurance agents.

Finally the number 5 most read blog of 2014 was Accumulate Wealth with The Rule of 72.This blog was not surprising at all. Everyone wants to accumulate wealth but most are just not sure how money really works. I knew this would be a popular blog, and that is very rare for me to be right.

Here are some of my blogging lessons of 2014. First, the title is very important and so is a good image. Second just because I like a certain blog doesn’t mean it will be successful, see number 5, it is rare. Third, content is huge. Write about things people want to learn about in your audience. It needs to be useful information. Lastly, the most successful blogs are about helping others and not about me or my products and services. I will take this information and try to be a better blogger in 2015. Hopefully, if you blog this will be of some guidance to you as well. Have a Happy and Prosperous 2015!
